It’s certainly winter coat weather right now in Kansas, but before you know it, the sunshine and warm weather will arrive, bringing with it flirty spring fashion, skirts, and shorts! Most women look forward to spring and summer with eager anticipation, but for those with unsightly spider veins on their legs, putting on a sundress or a bathing suit is the last thing they want to do.
At Midwest Medical, we currently offer sclerotherapy for patients with spider veins and reticular veins. Spider veins can form due to genetic predisposition and pressure resulting from pregnancy, obesity, or long periods of sitting or standing, and the best and only way remove and reduce spider veins is professional sclerotherapy.
This form of spider vein removal utilizes tiny needles to inject sclerosing agents into the body that will dissolve, collapse, and fade the telltale signs of spider veins. Each spider vein removal treatment only takes only 30 to 60 minutes and is relatively painless. The number of treatments required will depend on your individual situation; most cases require multiple treatments.
And when your treatment is finished, you can go right back to what you were doing!
Sclerotherapy does not require any recovery period. You’ll be able to walk immediately, drive yourself home and resume your regular activities after the treatment!
And if you really want to kick your legs up another notch this summer, here are some
Walk daily. This is the simplest exercise for legs. Use a step counter; you should try to walk about 10,000 steps each day.
Go running. Running will use more energy and in turn help burn fat. Try to do this at least three times per week.
Use a stationary bike or go biking. Bike riding provide a shockingly high caloric burn of about 500-600 calories an hour, making it one of the best exercise for reducing body fat.
Do a simple floor exercise. Lay flat on your back with your legs on the floor. Put your arms out beside you on the floor. Bring your knee up to where the highest part of your profile is. Then, with your other leg, kick it as high as it will go. Return it to the floor. Do sets of 60.
Try leg rolls. Lie on your right side and place your left arm on the floor in front of you. Raise your left leg at hip level. Pretend your leg is in a barrel and with your toes, lead the rest of your leg to trace the inside of the barrel. Do sets of 60.
Now is the absolute best time of year to seek sclerotherapy, as patients must wear compression stockings for two weeks after a treatment to attain the best results.
